Welcome to Allergy Spot
We are so glad you are here! Allergy Spot was founded in 2020 to share practical tips for living well with allergies, from people who live with allergies every day too. Our vision is for this to be a positive place, helping people manage life with allergies with confidence and optimism.

Positive, practical tips for living well with allergies based on real life experience
Our founder Lisa has lived with and cared for family with a wide range of allergies for over 2 decades. This includes lived experience with:
- multiple food allergies;
- drug allergies;
- respiratory allergies (to indoor allergens like house dust mites and moulds, as well as outdoor allergens like grass and tree pollens and animal allergies);
- eczema;
- allergic asthma;
- hay fever / allergic rhinitis; and
- contact allergies.
We know what it’s like to have a house full of EpiPens and antihistamines. We’ve experienced the ups and downs of skin prick testing, blood tests and oral food challenges and years of immunotherapy. And, like many others, the dreaded ambulance ride to hospital for treatment of a severe reaction (anaphylaxis).
Living with and caring for other people with multiple severe allergies, eczema and asthma means we’ve learnt a lot practical tips for managing life with allergies. And we’d love to share them with you. We are passionate about making life with allergies easier.
As well as sharing real life tips, Allergy Spot aims to direct people with allergies to appropriate medical information from qualified allergy specialists and support from official patient support organisations.
Food allergy friendly recipes
Our food allergy friendly recipes are the foods we actually cook and enjoy every day. Lisa has over 15 years experience in cooking for multiple food allergies including milk, egg, peanut, tree nuts, sesame, wheat and soy. In addition she cooks regularly for family with food intolerances and specific dietary requirements. Lisa was a recipe contributor to the Murdoch Children Research Institute’s cookbook, The Allergy Friendly Family Cookbook by Professor Mimi Tang, Associate Professor Kirsten Perrett and Dr Vick McWilliam. She has also completed the All About Allergens for Cooks and Chefs training course through the National Allergy Council.
Awareness and advocacy
Allergy Spot aims to promote awareness of allergies in the wider community. Lisa also has over 5 years experience as a consumer advocate representing the allergy community on advisory boards for major medical research organisations in Australia. We are excited about developments in prevention and treatment of allergies that will make life for people with allergies better in the future.
Allergy Spot also encourages support for charities that help people living with allergies, including through patient support and medical research. You can read more on our Giving page.
What Allergy Spot won’t do is provide any medical advice. You should contact your own doctor or health professional about your own medical conditions.
